Alcañiz has a long-standing connection to the world of motor racing. Between 1965 and 2003 it was home to the City of Alcañiz Grand Prix, and races such as the “Renault National Cup”. It was a street circuit 3.900 meters in length, commonly known as the “tour of the bridges”. The route can be taken by car today and many residents of the city follow it on foot. Its most famous bend was ““the funnel bend” located at the end of the final straight and it was one of the main attractions of the circuit, together with the “cork climb” and the “hospital bend”.
After the street circuit was discontinued for safety reasons, a project was created for a Motor City in 2001, later rechristened as Motorland. It was opened in 2009 and has become one of the most state-of-the-art racing tracks in the world. It also houses an autodrome, a go-kart circuit and four dirt tracks.
Motorland hosts important racing events such as Grand Prix MotoGP, World Series by Renault, FIM Superbike World Championship, Spanish Road Racing Championship (CEV Repsol), Spanish Go-Kart Championships which attract racing enthusiasts of all kinds.
Mirablanc Apartments is located approximately 20km from the Motorland circuit.
